A 'joyous' affair: Ginter Thanksgiving meal offers sense of community, service

As the noonhour struck on Thanksgiving Day, a robust round of applause filled the basement of St. John’s Episcopal Church Parish House Community Center.

The moment marked the beginning of the in-person portion of the Ginter family’s free community Thanksgiving dinner, which celebrated its 61st year Thursday afternoon.

Free meals were given to anyone who stopped by, and long tables were set up to encourage people to stick around and chat. By noon, a line of hungry Thanksgiving revelers had already formed around the room and out the door.
